About

When you look at the picture above what comes to mind?

For those of you who are not familiar with these cows, they represent Chick-fil-a. Chick-fil-a is a quick service restaurant chain that specializes in chicken entrees.  Having been originally popular in southern states, the chain has now expanded to the rest of the US. The company is also very visible with promoting christian values. In fact Every store is closed on Sundays.

Now you might wonder why I am writing about chick-fil-a…..Well first I wanted to start off by saying how much I love Chick-fil-a! All my friends go on a regular basis, I enjoy myself every time I am in one of their restaurant, and I especially love their sauces. Yum Yum

Recently, I have found myself not being able to bring myself to eat at this establishment after coming up with my topic. The reason being because of one of their local store’s recent donation to the Pennsylvania Family Institute, and also their close affiliation with the WinShape Foundation.

What is it about these organizations that I feel strongly negative about? It’s that fact that I am gay and these organization’s main objective is to promote “traditional family values,” which excludes anything having to do with homosexuality. I personally feel that is wrong for an organization to support such groups like these while taking money from customers who do identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans-gender, Questioning/Queer, and  Intersexed.

What I hope to do through this blog, is to get the CEO of Chick-fil-a,Dan Cathy to not allow any of his Chik-fil-a chains or the company at large to donate to organizations that discriminates a portion of the company’s customer and also to not be affiliated with foundations that are not exclusive to this same portion of the company’s customers.
